Marvel Rivals Tournament

Red Bull Gaming Hub · Catalyst Learning Centre

MCU's very first event — catered with pita and hummus, 4 full teams battled through a mixed double-elimination bracket, with the Catalyst Learning Centre doubling as the spectators' lounge and a cooldown area between games. A great way to kick off the course union, and a staple event ever since.

ROS2 Tutorial

TMU Engineering

Led by Velocity TMU, this 2-hour hands-on session covered ROS2 fundamentals — nodes, interfaces, and real robot communication — and ended with students programming a moveable robot of their own.

Big Hero 6 Movie Night

TMU Campus

Held during midterm season as a cooldown and mental-health break, this Big Hero 6 screening came with popcorn and snacks for a relaxed night off. Turnout ran lower than usual, but as MCU's second-ever social event, it was a solid, easygoing intro to the community.

SolidWorks Beginner, CSWA & CSWP

TMU Engineering Labs

A three-tier SolidWorks series — the first session covered the basics and sent every participant home with a free SolidWorks license, while the second and third built toward CSWA and CSWP certification prep respectively. Industry-standard CAD skills for your résumé.

Mech Bull Night

Gould Street, TMU

Run in collaboration with MECU, this carnival-style event on Gould Street raised money for CAMH — Canada's largest mental health teaching hospital. Inflatable games, refreshments, face painting, and our signature mechanical bull ran on a dollar-a-ticket system, with every cent going straight to the cause. The event was packed.

Arduino Workshop

TMU Engineering Lab

An evening full of prototyping, debugging, and learning the basics of electronics. Over 50 participants learned how basic circuitry works — from connecting and blinking an LED, to reading digital input through a push-button, to wiring an LCD for a visual text display.

Sumobot Competition

TMU Engineering Lab

Students designed and programmed autonomous sumo robots to compete head-to-head in the ring. Pure engineering chaos. Absolutely iconic.

Valentine's Day Event w/ MECU

TMU Campus

A collab with the Mechanical Engineering Course Union (MECU) for Valentine's Day. Engineers can absolutely be romantic — or at least try.

WORKSHOP FILE Nº 009

PCB Soldering Workshop

Kerr Hall Engineering Lab

Hands-on soldering fundamentals — iron technique, component placement, and inspection. Students left with a working board they built themselves.

WORKSHOP FILE Nº 010

Jarvis Workshop

TMU Engineering

A deep dive into building your own voice-activated AI assistant — hardware integration, natural language commands, and embedded control. Tony Stark would approve.

WORKSHOP FILE Nº 011

Raspberry Pi Workshop

TMU Engineering Lab

Getting started with Linux, GPIO, Python, and real hardware on the Raspberry Pi. From blinking LEDs to sensor interfacing — the gateway to embedded Linux.

International Design Team Showcase

TMU Design Team Garage

The MCU welcomed a group of high school students from the United Arab Emirates for an opportunity to explore TMU's engineering design teams. Through presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on displays from TMFR, MARS, and MetRocketry, students learned about the innovative projects our teams work on throughout the year while gaining insight into student life and the opportunities available.
